Game #31 - Minnesota Wild 2, Colorado Avalanche 1 (SO)

Goals:
COL - Max Talbot (3) - from Cory Sarich and John Mitchell (10:48 2ND)
MIN - Nino Niederreiter (6) - from Ryan Suter and Jason Pominville (16:07 3RD)
Shootout winner - Mikko Koivu (MIN)
Goalies:
WG - Josh Harding (26 saves on 27 shots: 17-5-3) LG - Semyon Varlamov (26 saves on 27 shots: 14-8-1)

The Avs were 4 minutes away from a win tonight and blew it thanks to a horrible turnover by Nate Guenin, and the Wild beat them 2-1 in a shootout. This marks the first time the Avs have lost in a Shootout/Overtime this season, a tough one to swallow considering they were so close to winning and its a division rival. Considering how good the Avs played defensively tonight it is all wasted by one bad play by Guenin, simply put they can't afford to have players like Guenin, Barrie, Holden etc in the lineup if they are going to cost them points. The Avs need consistency on D, and the last few weeks there hasn't been that. Max Talbot scored the only goal for the Avs tonight, while Minnesota got a goal from Nino Niederreiter and a shootout winner from Mikko Koivu. The Avs still gained a point tonight, but this was a bad loss because the Wild are chasing them in the division standings. The Avs can't afford to give more points up like this, if they want to stay in the playoff hunt they need to win these games in regulation. Overall a good effort tonight wasted by 1 shitty turnover, but that's hockey for ya. Semyon Varlamov was great in the loss, he made some big saves and had no chance on the Wild's only goal.

Three Stars:
3. Mikko Koivu - Koivu scored the game-winner in the shootout
2. Semyon Varlamov - Varly made 26 saves on 27 shots
1. Josh Harding - Harding made 26 saves on 27 shots for the win

Game #32 - The Avs play again at home with a game against the Dallas Stars on Monday night (@9PM ET)
